It is pertinent to make sure the bike on the roof is secure

This past weekend happy tooth racing (HTR) traveled to Greenville, SC again for the second weekend of racing in the spring training series. The first race of the weekend was the fork shoals road race. The race was filled with attacks, and we were able to cover the ones that looked promising. With 2 laps to go everything was together. A ridersttacked solo and seeing how the race had played out so far I didn’t think he would stay away. Well he did, one other guy bridges to him and they finished a few seconds in front of my group. The peleton split on the last lap and I was able to finish in the group that was sprinting for 3rd. By the sprint I was pretty tired and finished 12th in the race. Eoin finished in the next group on the road.
After the race I decided I didn’t want Mexican food, but when I told my teammates I was ok with moes apparently I had done something wrong. Even though moes is called moes southwest grill, I guess since you can get burritos there it is considered Mexican. The Mexican I was refering too are the resturants where it is impossible to finish your drink, the waiter will fill it up before it is empty. If you can finish your drink it is not a real Mexican place, and combo number b is essential to the menu.
We procceded to get more food that night and to watch some of the olympics. But if your in South Carolina and Clemson or the University of South Carolina are playing good luck trying to get anything else on the tv ( this can also count with NASCAR).
The next day was the donaldson center road race. Pretty much from the gun the attacks started. Me and eoin were able to get in a move of about 20 guys, but It only lasted for about a lap. We covered a bunch of moves over the next few laps except the one that stayed away. There was some confusion with an ambulance attending to a crash in the 3 field soon after the break went away, which we blame for us missing the move. But no matter the excuse we missed the move and don’t intend to let that happen in the future. So in the closing laps the 3 of us (me, eoin, and curtis) put in some attacks but they were all for naught. So it came down to a field sprint. I got 7th in the sprint to finish 20th, while eoin finished 32nd.
We then headed back home. After we were driving for around an hour we hear this bang from outside the car. We were driving eoins car and had one bike on the roof, one in the trunk and two on a trunk rack. The first thought at this noise was the trunk rack because we were having issues with getting the straps to stay on throughout the weekend. Turns out it was Eoin’s bike on the roof coming out of the fork mount. The bike was saved by the wheel strap on the rear wheel. We pulled over and were able to fix the issue and we made it home without any other near misses loosing a bike off the car.
We will be headed down to Greenville again this weekend for the final races of the training series. Hopefully we won’t have any mishaps with bicycles on the roof.
